A Flowery Concord Tee

The Cashmerette Concord Tee pattern is destined for the tried-and-true pile, although I probably will tweak it a bit more. I made one yesterday out of a cotton/lycra print from the quilt store in town. (The fabric and the dress form cover want to stick to each other, so it was hard to get the top to hang properly.) In the next iteration, I am going to make the lower neckline. I normally prefer higher necklines but I am not fond of the shape of this one. It looks wonky on the dress form but it sits properly on my body.

The fit of this is good and it’s long enough. I am eager to see how Kim’s version turns out in class today.

I belong to the Cashmerette Club, which is Cashmerette’s all-access membership. I bought myself a subscription last year for my birthday. I think it’s a good value and I will probably join again this year. I haven’t made as many of their patterns as I thought I might but there are additional resources that are very useful. One of the Club patterns I downloaded is the Wexford Swing Top.

After I finished the Concord, I got out the Wexford pattern and traced it. I am curious to see how it compares to the Love Notions Laundry Day Tee. I made several of those a few years ago and wore them to death. I had to lengthen the Wexford by 3"—that is a standard alteration on just about every top I make—and I am hoping to zip one out tomorrow to check the fit.

It’s a bit weird to be working with knits again after making so many woven tops this summer. The advantages are that I don’t have to sew bust darts and I can make many of these tops completely on the serger. However, I don’t feel like I am in my winter sewing groove quite yet. The sunny and 65F weather might have something to do with that. We fall off the weather cliff (again) on Friday. Snow levels are supposed to drop to 3500'. We are at 3250' so we might get some.

And I think I might start working on salsa tomorrow. I will put some tomatoes in the roaster to cook down overnight and that will speed the process. The tomatoes are taking up an awful lot of space in the freezers.
